Ordering Research Peptides With a Purchase Order: Laboratory Vendor Onboarding Checklist

A practical laboratory checklist for peptide specifications, vendor documents, purchase orders, payment terms and lot acceptance.

Laboratory identity and procurement

A research peptide purchase order works best when the requested material and procurement requirements are defined first. This checklist helps a laboratory compare identity, available documents, payment conditions and delivery records without assuming a supplier is already approved.

Quick answer

Ask the supplier to confirm the exact material, lot documentation, available quantity and purchasing process. A purchase order does not automatically establish vendor approval, credit terms or permission to ship.

Define the material before requesting a quote

Specify the compound name, sequence or chemical identity, terminal modifications or form, required quantity and the genuine in-vitro or analytical project. A familiar abbreviation is not always enough to distinguish fragments, variants, blends or salt forms.

List acceptance specifications separately from preferences. If your project requires a content measurement, particular contaminant limit or other assay-specific attribute, say so before ordering. Do not assume that a high purity percentage answers every specification.

COA, SDS and specification sheet: different roles

A Certificate of Analysis records results or statements for a tested sample or lot. A specification sheet describes the defined material and acceptance requirements. A Safety Data Sheet addresses hazard communication and handling information. These documents serve different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Ask which documents are available for the exact item. Check the issuer, sample and lot identifier, report date, method and reporting basis. A generic catalog description does not replace a lot report; a report for a different lot does not establish the current lot’s results.

For standard institutional onboarding, purchasing may also request tax/business documentation and a vendor contact. Exchange sensitive tax or banking documents through the institution’s approved process, not an unsolicited public attachment.

Does a supplier accept purchase orders or Net-30?

Ask directly. A PO is the buyer’s order record. It does not, by itself, grant payment terms, establish supplier acceptance or release material for shipment. An approved institutional vendor and an approved credit account are also different things.

For SRL enquiries, request written confirmation before issuing a PO. This guide does not promise PO acceptance, Net-30, a reserved lot, custom synthesis or any particular bulk discount. SRL’s actual availability and purchasing conditions must be confirmed for the specific enquiry.

Send the item, quantity, required specifications and delivery details through the support contact form. Ask for confirmation of the available material and documents first. If the institution requires additional onboarding, describe that requirement so both sides can determine whether an order is workable.

Compare the full delivered order

Compare the complete quote, not only the per-vial price. Relevant fields include the stated identity and quantity, number of lots, documentation, packaging, shipping, taxes where applicable and the agreed payment process. Any discount should be written in the quote rather than assumed from a pack size.

For multi-unit purchases, ask whether the shipment will contain one lot or several. If the project needs consistency across experiments, define the lot requirement before ordering. The 10-pack procurement checklist covers related receiving and documentation questions.

Qualify a small order before repeat supply

A small evaluation order can test documentation completeness and whether the material meets a legitimate laboratory project’s requirements. At receipt, match the invoice, labels and report references, record package condition and retain the documents used for acceptance.

Resolve discrepancies before repeat purchases. If continuity matters, ask how changes in lot, declared form or available analytical methods will be communicated. A successful initial order does not guarantee future lot availability or unchanged specifications.

  • Record the order and lot identifiers together.
  • Keep the original analytical record and any supplier clarification.
  • Distinguish tests actually provided from tests requested but unavailable.
  • Confirm any repeat-order requirements in writing.

Where to start with SRL

Use the current research catalog to identify a potential specification match, then review available batch documentation. The GHK-Cu, MOTS-c and Semax pages are examples of existing listings, not recommendations for a particular project.

Batch-specific analytical documentation is published for supported lots. Contact support if documentation for a specific lot is not listed. A product page or sample report does not establish approval by a university, hospital or government purchasing department.

Frequently asked questions

Can a university place an order just by sending a PO?

It depends on supplier acceptance, institutional onboarding and the agreed payment process. Obtain confirmation before assuming an order can proceed.

Is a COA the same as an SDS?

No. A COA concerns reported sample or lot attributes; an SDS serves hazard communication and handling purposes.

Does a bulk pack guarantee one lot?

No. Confirm the lot allocation for the proposed order and match documents to every supplied lot.

Can research-use-only material be bought for patient compounding?

This checklist covers genuine laboratory research procurement. SRL materials are not supplied for clinical, human or veterinary use.
